The Christmas Sweater- something we dread or something we love? Someone takes all the time and effort to make a sweater for someone special at Christmas-time. Well, this year, my Christmas Sweater for someone did not go very well. He likes it - except it wasn't finished in time. For the first time ever, I gave someone a gift that wasn't completed. I thought that was the worst part of the project, but noo.. When I did finish the sweater, for some reason, it is just way too big. Now, he's very understanding and said "That's okay, Mom", but well, guess what I did. I carefully ripped it out and am making it again.
I want him to like it, to wear it, and maybe, if Old Saint Nick is on my side, actually look forward to another one.
I have not only re-sized this project, I'm vamping it up a bit. Photos to follow as I work on it. I'm adapting a straight-needle pattern for circular needles, and... well, wait and see...
It isn't just the effort, or time, or yarn, or plans that makes me want to do it well - it's that my mother made us sweaters, and it is a tradition of sorts I would like to continue.
