I am painting oil paintings of whales - in order to honor them and to raise awareness of their daily struggles to thrive. You may order one through my website at Whales in Oil

There was a Catholic priest in Hawaii who worked with the sufferers of leprosy on Molokai. I always knew I would have struggled with the same type of unconditional acceptance that Father Damien lived. Below is a video by a Hawaiian artist, Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole, who may have also struggled with acceptance in some ways, but overcame it in many more ways. He sings my favorite song in this video, and is a daily reminder to me to try to be a better person, to hear the Light in his voice, and to remember the example of Father Damien in his life of service.
And here is another beautiful version of this song, sung by the group Celtic Women
And below, sung by the man himself, Eric Clapton.

I'm sorry to butt into the wrong blog post but I have just found your piece on small circulars.
ReplyDeleteI was in same position but a new sock knitter. I came across Hiya Hiya and liked them but have now ordered a slightly larger size, as I'm impatient and want them to grow a little faster.
I ordered some Addi 12" but found I couldn't get the number of stitches required to stretch enough round the loop. Although I thought these would be great for knitting, I couldn't manage them, hence the second Hiya Hiya needles.
Do you have any tips for adapting a simple sock pattern for my size 4 English shoe size using the tiny circulars.
I have only just found your blog through the search, so have now bookmarked it.
