Apple Wood Battens

The weaving battens I am making out of aged Apple wood have come out very nice.  Apple is a nice hard wood.  Sometimes it will crack slightly as it ages, but even these cracks seem to add more character to the piece instead of detracting from it.  Below are three battens that are finished and one rough piece of apple wood.  The finished battens have a light furniture oil on them.
